Getting to Know the Amazing Mrs. Ridge!
Inspiration: When I was in college, I volunteered in my brother’s kindergarten class during winter break and knew right then that I wanted to be a teacher! When the next semester started, I changed my major to elementary education and eventually taught 5th grade for eight years before I stayed home with my own children.
Why she loves Parkside: I love getting to know each and every student at our school. I love being able to teach them art for the entire seven years they are here at Parkside!
Fun Fact: I grew up on a farm in Idaho and started driving tractors around the farm when I was 12.
Hobbies: I love being creative, but I also love playing sports, especially pickleball, skiing, and biking.
Quote: I like this quote from “Anne of Green Gables” because it reminds me to be positive and to look for the good all around me. “I don’t know what lies around the bend, but I’m going to believe that the best does!” - Anne Shirley
Favorite teacher: My favorite teacher was my 5th grade teacher Mr. Berg because he let me stay in at recess and grade papers and record them in his grade book (I guess I was destined to be a teacher)!

David Schildknecht was inspired to become a staff member at Parkside Elementary by his family. Their support and encouragement played a significant role in his decision to join the school community. One of David's most cherished memories at Parkside Elementary is performing music for the faculty. The joy and fun shared during that moment left a lasting impression on him, highlighting the strong sense of community and camaraderie among the staff. Knowing that he is helping someone somewhere is how David stays motivated and passionate about his work. This sense of purpose drives him to continue making a positive impact every day. He loves working with students, and believes in making a difference in their lives. He enjoys teaching them the basics of living a safe and healthy lifestyle, which he sees as a fundamental part of their education. David's advice to those considering a career in education is to do it for the children, as they are the future. He emphasizes the importance of focusing on the well-being and development of the next generation.

Kori Solis started working for the School District at 19 to support herself and her son. From the moment Parkside Elementary was built, she knew she wanted to be part of it. Now, 19 years later, Parkside feels like home and family to her. She loves the kids, staff, and community, and is incredibly thankful to be part of such a great school. One of her most memorable moments was being honored with the Best of Davis Award, which made her feel truly appreciated. It reminded her that her work matters. Kori loves seeing the kids grow—not just academically, but as kind, capable, thoughtful humans. She believes Parkside is the best!
