Getting to know our amazing Mrs. Johnson!
What inspired Mrs. Johnson to be a teacher: When I was a senior in high school I needed some classes and someone told me about a class where I could do some work in an elementary school. I found someone I knew who taught 2nd grade and I worked in her class for a semester. I loved it so much I added more time in second semester. I had an amazing year with this teacher and even went back the next year while I was in college. During these 2 years I was able to try so many different things and I loved it all! I finally knew what I wanted to be when I “grew up” because of this wonderful opportunity.
Mrs. Johnson's favorite part about Parkside: My favorite part about working at Parkside is the fabulous teachers and staff, the students and the community. I’ve been at Parkside for awhile and am grateful to know so many wonderful families! There are lots of families that I have had the privilege of teaching all the kids.
Fun Fact: I played on a dodgeball team for several years as an adult.
Hobbies: I love being with my family. We spend a lot of time at indoor and outdoor playgrounds right now. I love going to Jazz games.
Mrs. Johnson's Favorite teacher: Mrs. Barney was the teacher that was my mentor when I did the elementary tutor program in high school. She was the person that made me want to become a teacher and I am so grateful for her. I would not be a teacher if it wasn’t for her.

Students who had 95% or better attendance in first term were entered into a drawing to win a new scooter! The energy at our assembly was electric and we are so happy for our first attendance reward winner! Congratulations Panthers!!!

The first graders in Mrs. Jones' class were working to demonstrate how many fewer whiteboards there were from markers. The conversations, collaboration, and the connections were golden! Parkside Panthers love learning!

Getting to Know the Amazing Mrs. Ridge!
Inspiration: When I was in college, I volunteered in my brother’s kindergarten class during winter break and knew right then that I wanted to be a teacher! When the next semester started, I changed my major to elementary education and eventually taught 5th grade for eight years before I stayed home with my own children.
Why she loves Parkside: I love getting to know each and every student at our school. I love being able to teach them art for the entire seven years they are here at Parkside!
Fun Fact: I grew up on a farm in Idaho and started driving tractors around the farm when I was 12.
Hobbies: I love being creative, but I also love playing sports, especially pickleball, skiing, and biking.
Quote: I like this quote from “Anne of Green Gables” because it reminds me to be positive and to look for the good all around me. “I don’t know what lies around the bend, but I’m going to believe that the best does!” - Anne Shirley
Favorite teacher: My favorite teacher was my 5th grade teacher Mr. Berg because he let me stay in at recess and grade papers and record them in his grade book (I guess I was destined to be a teacher)!

Menu for September 15-19

Parkside Elementary students made cards and posters to give to our Clinton City first responders to say "Thank You". Principal Vincent and Dr. Moses gave the messages from our students and some treats to our amazing community partners at a special 9-11 Remembrance early this morning. It's another great day to be a Parkside Panther!

6th grade students had the opportunity to try their hand at playing instruments. Thank you to Mrs. Dempsey for giving our students the gift of music by teaching orchestra!

These amazing Panthers were the winners of the first Golden Sneaker Award! Mrs. Whitesides (holding the trophy), our incredible PE teacher, has "Leveled Up" the game this year with this award for one deserving class each week. Congratulations to Mrs. Supino's class for setting the bar high by being outstanding in PE prep!
