As we approach this holiday season, I am filled with gratitude for our teachers, students, and community. Even in this difficult time, magic is happening at Parkside.
One thing that we are focusing on this year is the Social Emotional Learning of every student and adult. You may ask “What is Social Emotional Learning”? “Social emotional learning (SEL) is the process through which boys, girls and adults acquire and effectively apply the knowledge, attitudes, and skills necessary for being a healthy adult. This includes problem-solving skills, intergender communication and understanding, as well as teaching kids to embrace diversity and build healthy relationships that will last well into adulthood”.
We are using a program called Sanford Harmony to assist us in our SEL endeavors. If you would like, take a moment to check out the free resources Sanford Harmony provides parents and families called Harmony at Home. You will find it at the link below. https://www.sanfordharmony.org/harmony-at-home/
We believe that schools are most effective when they work closely with parents to create a successful school experience for children. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions, concerns or ideas. You may reach me at 801-402-1150 or email@example.com
